The Art of Projecting Logos

At certain events, it's common to project logos to aesthetically complement the surroundings, but they require professional optics and advanced configurations. We can classify them according to projection complexity.
Distance
Ultra Short Lenses are optics that allow for large projections without having to move the projector farther away. A projector can practically stick to the wall and project a wide image with minimal distortion. This is the case of an event for a well-known brandy brand where the projector was located at the entrance, right in the passageway. Furthermore, the exterior was 2 meters from the projection, and the Ultra Short Lens option allowed us to avoid obtaining a public space occupancy permit to project from the street.
In this image composition, we've combined the interior and exterior images. On the right, you can see how the event logo, in addition to adding aesthetic appeal, also welcomes us and indicates that we've arrived at the right place. On the left, you can see the minimal distance between the projector and the wall where we project, and how the Ultra Short Lens projects with virtually no distortion or chromatic aberration. The same is true for long projection distances, whose specific optics determine the distance and image size.
Distortion
Inside the event, we had to project the same logo above the cocktail bar. A projector at the same height and centered would have disrupted the harmony of the venue, a problem identified during the technical visit during pre-production. The solution was to hide the projector on one side, with minimal visual impact on the surroundings.
In the reverse shot below, you can see the truss-mounted projector on the right side of the image. Its placement prioritizes respect for the architecture and history of this unique space. Current technology offers quality along with elegance and a great design capable of blending into the surroundings, and this environment requires respectful audiovisual treatment.
The frontal shot below shows how the video projector is completely hidden, but this must be a professional projector with advanced keystone functions such as integrated 2D correction technology. Basically, the keystone function corrects the image when the projector is not centered or positioned at a right angle to the screen. Keystone allows us to manipulate the trapezoidal image and turn it into a sharp rectangle. Keystone prevents this distortion and maintains high image quality.
But this distortion can be desired, even forced using keystone, as occurs in immersive exhibitions or artistic presentations.
Lumens
Lumens are the measurement used to determine a projector's power, its brightness, and the amount of light it can emit. The higher the lumen count, the more powerful the projector will be. The type of event, the ambient light, the image size, and the quality of the image will all determine the lumens we need.
MD Miguel Díaz Audiovisual Services Barcelona offers a wide range of projectors and screens for rent. If you're looking for a rental projector, keep in mind that we have different resolutions and smart features for all types of formats, stage design, mapping, edge blending, and more.
